Seinfeld for Windows Vista
Comedian and sitcom star Jerry Seinfeld has been enlisted to be the next Microsoft spokesperson. The advertisements will promote Windows Vista and will also feature Microsoft chairman Bill Gates. Aiming to portray Vista in a more favorable light, the $300 million campaign will debut on September 4th. Microsoft’s new ad agency, Crispin Porter & Bogusky, is hoping Seinfeld will have enough of a positive effect to turn people’s perceptions of Vista around. Others think the tactic won’t work as it is too little too late for Vista, and they should focus on the Windows 7 release. Only time will tell, and we’ll be watching September 4th! Oh, and Seinfeld is getting $10 million for his work on the campaign.

Oooooh - this should be rich - a joke teller to represent Microsoft’s joke of an OS. Please, give me something that works and works well. I don’t want bells, whistles or AeroGlass.
I like Jerry seinfeld. So now, I will ignore all the business killing defects of Vista: Voila!
He doesn’t need the $$, so why would he lend his once favorable reputation to this turkey.
I think ten million is a fair price. Jerry will probably be unemployable after this gig. Maybe he is going to make a sitcom of his experiences with Microsoft. That should be enough material for several seasons…
Boy is this great - Jerrys old Seinfeld SHow always had an Apple computer on his desk in his apartment. Is this real or just for the love of money. I wonder if the honchos at Microsoft ever watched the old series. Tell them what they want to hear Jerry - take the money and run. We know which operating system has worked the best. (Couldn’t believe it when I heard it)
It’s been said that vigorously advertising a bad product will only hasten its demise. This ought to be fun to watch!
I’m not certain where this company is heading. Hopefully it will be in the Aol path. Vista is a joke perpretrated upon mankind. Perhaps it was really developed for gamers and 3rd graders as it has created such problem in business applications nobody in their right mind should contemplate it as an operating system. Take a look at how it’s being treated by the machinists - Dell is charging $99 to ‘downgrade’ to XP. But that’s as useless any more. Not sure if too many people have noticed the hundreds of window’s updates over the past six months and have linked them to the almost daily freezes and lockups of XP applications - most of them MS products! This company is on the slippery slide and the sooner they sink, the better. It is time for the next generation of innovators. Microlost has lost their way.
The reason is right there in the story. Microsoft is donating $10 million to his favorite charity.
Jerry who? Unless you live in NY, who cares? He’s old, and unless you live in NY, he is actually annoying. Microsoft is becoming irrelevant with most of their customers. We tried to use a new Vista computer and it totally messed up our business applications. I predict there will be a HUGE business in selling XP boxes for years to come.
Whats the big complaint about Vista, I use it and recommend it constantly. Of course I turn UAC off because that really is a joke. But as long as your not using deprecated hardware or poorly written software it works great. Just like a mac they tightly control their hardware and software so its very stable. So same for PC, if you choose well configured hardware and software it is very stable.
