Windows and Mac OS to Run Together

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

Start-up software company Parallels says it is ready to release a final version of its software that allows Macs to run Microsoft Windows and the Mac OS at the same time. Apple Computer made headlines in April when it said it would offer its own software – Boot Camp – for loading Windows onto Macs. But Boot Camp only permits you to run one OS at a time. Parallels software allows you to run both. Other similar software offerings had to emulate the hardware that’s inside of a PC. But with Parallels (and the fact that both Macs and PCs now use the same Intel-based chips) the emulation is unecessary. Visit Microsoft Windows.

Symantec Considers ID Management

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

“It is an area of great interest to our company,” said Symantec CEO John Thompson. He revealed that Symantec is looking into identity management, encryption and managed services as it continues towards its stated goal of becoming an IT services management company. Despite eight acquisitions (including Veritas) in the last year, the CEO asserted that they might develop the technology in-house as opposed to purchasing an ID management or encryption company.
