Office Communications Server 2007 Enterprise Edition is recommended for organizations that require higher availability through fail over and clustering. It provides the core Office Communications Server functionality of enterprise IM, Presence, Web conferencing, application sharing, and software-powered VoIP while allowing for these server roles to be installed on separate servers.
The External Connector licenses (EC) are optional additional server license for external users that enable access to your servers running Office Communications Server 2007. With these licenses, you do not need to buy individual Office Communications Server CALs for external users. Grants access to the Office Communications Server for Office Communications Server Enterprise CAL functionality by an unlimited number of external users that can include, but is not limited to, business partners, suppliers, customers, retirees, and alumni. It is licensed per server.
