Client Access Licenses (CALs) are required for each device or user that accesses the features and services of Microsoft SQL. Device CALs are likely to be more cost-effective than User CALs if there are multiple users per device (for example, a call center or an airport kiosk).

Microsoft Open License Business is a software volume licensing program designed for customers who order as few as five licenses. After the initial order, customers can benefit from volume pricing for all licenses for the remainder of the term of their Open License authorization number.
