Corel CEO To Resign
An investment firm that owns a majority stake in Corel Corporation has offered to acquire the remaining shares and take the company private, again. This would be the second time in five years. Just two weeks after this announcement, CEO of three years David Dobson announced his resignation. Dobson left to take a job at a Fortune 500 company in the U.S. This news comes shortly after Corel’s X4 software release, and within a year of its acquisition of smaller vendors like WinZip and Ulead. Corel’s profits were up 25% year over year and they are predicting a profit in its second quarter.
